Petrel® has now import and export interfaces which offer easy access to the full capabilities of Isatis. At each stage of a project, Petrel users may exchange data between the software packages in a seamless way and benefit from Isatis advanced geostatistics to improve the accuracy of your reservoir model and get a single robust reservoir model.

The link between Petrel® (Reservoir Modeling package from Schlumberger) and Isatis consists in a module in Petrel®.

It creates entries in the Process Manager of Petrel® which can be used either interactively or in a workflow.

ISATIS interface in PETREL™

PETREL™ -> ISATIS Export interface

The Export interface is designed to export to Isatis Petrel® Pillar Grids (as Isatis Grid File) and Boreholes (as Isatis Lines File) with their attached properties (Logs and Facies).

Grids alone are automatically exported flattened. Wells alone are exported in the real space. Wells and Grid exported at the same time are automatically exported in the system of the flattened grid.

Well Makers are exported in a separate Isatis Points File with all the locations of the marker points for all wells mixed in the same file.

Several import interfaces load Isatis data into Petrel®:

• The Import Isatis Points interface allows to export points variable from ISATIS to a new PETREL PointSet.

• The Import Isatis Surface interface allows to export a 2D grid variable from Isatis to a new surface in Petrel®.

• The Import Isatis Grid Variable interface allows to get grid variables back from Isatis to an existing Petrel® grid as new or existing grid properties.

These interfaces have been successfully developed using the GTXserver toolkit.

ISATIS -> PETREL™ Import interface
