Isatis Features Isatis represents a one-stop shop for geostatisticians. It is a powerful and user-friendly package which contains an exclusive range of proven geostatistical techniques and allows simple or complex workflows.

ISATIS is the Reference geostatistics-dedicated software solution which offers, in a single integrated package, an exclusive range of proven geostatistical techniques for in-depth data analysis, estimation and simulations. Using ISATIS, you can be sure of the reliability of your results: robust techniques, well researched algorithms, exclusive agreement with Mines ParisTech Geostatistics Group, professional expertise confirmed by 25 years of experience in geostatistics.

ISATIS numerous interfaces with professional standard software packages allows to load a wide variety of data and output the results in a format best suited to your needs.

ISATIS batch functionalities enable automatic procedures for updating and easy reproduction of workflows.

ISATIS is offered in several packs.

Additional plug-ins are available from Geovariances: Import and Export interfaces with Schlumberger PETREL® and Roxar RMS® - Gemcom GEMS®, Paradigm GOCAD® and Beicip RML® also provide direct links with Isatis.

1. ESDA (Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis)

The ESDA module gives you access to various tools for data management, data analysis, data quality control and modeling, enabling you to derive new properties.

  • Data Integration

    • Import: ASCII, Binary, Arcview Shapefile and grids, Boreholes with Deviation Survey Data, Datamine, DXF (Autocad), Excel, Geoshare, Geocap, Gslib, Irap Classic, LAS, ODBC, RML – Heresim 3D, SEG-Y, Vulcan, Z-Map Plus.
    • Export: ASCII, Binary, Arcview, CMG, Datamine, Eclipse, Geocap, Gslib, Irap Classic, RML – Heresim 3D, SEG-Y, TIFF, Vulcan, VIP, Whittle Four-D, Z-Map Plus.

  • Data Management

    • File Manager. Variable Editor.
    • Several selection utilities to build masks on samples (i.e. interactive selection of samples from a graphical basemap, intervals on numerical variables, patterns on alphanumerical variables, polygons, wireframes and convex hull, macro-selections to handle domaining).

  • Exploratory Data Analysis

    • Classical statistics computation (univariate, multivariate).
    • Computation and display of different statistics (possibly weighted) in linked windows: basemap, histograms, cross-plots, grade-tonnage curves, standard QQ-plots and PP-plots, experimental variograms and related functions (i.e. covariances, 1st order variograms, variogram cloud) in any direction of the space (3D, 2D or 1D), variogram maps (2D and 3D), H-scatter Plot.
    • Unique ability of picking data in the linked graphic windows for identifying spatial variability and masking possible outliers or anomalous data.
    • Refined experimental variogram lags at small distances.
    • Principal Component Analysis.
    • Minimum/ Maximum Autocorrelation Factors.
  • Interpolation

    • Polygons of influence, moving average, moving median and moving dip average, inverse of a powered distance, least squares polynomial fit, discrete splines, linear model kriging, spline model kriging.
    • Definition of the data search neighborhood for estimation (unique, ellipsoidal, sequential). Powerful search neighborhood optimization.

2. MODELING

The MODELING module enables you to create the model to be used as input in the estimation procedure.

  • Statistics

    • Cloud transform simulation.
  • Modeling

    • Stationary variables:

      • 2D-3D variogram modeling with geometrical and/or zonal anisotropies.
      • 2D/3D isotropic and directional variogram, identification of directions and scales of continuity through unique 3D interactive variogram map
      • Multi-directional display of experimental variograms.
      • Exhaustive set of variogram models.
      • Interactive graphical fitting of variograms.
      • Automatic sill fitting of simple and cross variograms.
      • Automatic variogram modeling: automatic model initialization from a given combination of basic structures in each direction and for each variable.
      • Fitting of a punctual model using an experimental regularized variogram.
      • Average model.
      • Variograms on large simulated grids
    • Non-stationary variables:

      • Automatic drift identification (IRF-k, external drift functions, automatic covariance recognition).
      • Global trend modeling.
    • Variogram regularization
    • Histogram modeling (multivariate: anamorphosis function, weighted histograms, global support correction including information effect with grade-tonnage curve calculations. Gaussian support correction).
    • Cross-validation.
  • Kriging & Cokriging

    • Definition of the data search neighborhood for estimation and simulation techniques (unique, ellipsoidal, sequential). Powerful search neighborhood optimization.
    • Simple kriging, ordinary kriging, IRF-k kriging.
    • Point or block estimate, 2D and 3D polygon estimate (global estimation), estimation of the drift, first and second order derivatives.
    • Advanced techniques such as kriging with variance of measurement error, model components filtering, factorial kriging analysis, deconvolution, residual kriging, external drift, collocated cokriging, kriging with inequalities.
    • Non-linear techniques: Disjunctive Kriging, Uniform Conditioning (multivariate), Indicator kriging.
    • Lognormal kriging, macro kriging for clustered data.
    • Confidence intervals estimation.
  • Non-conditional simulations

    • Exhaustive set of non-conditional simulations.
  • Risk Assessment

    • Grade-tonnage curves.
    • Post-processing of simulation results: expectation curves on surfaces & volumes, mean and variance maps, probability and quantile maps, histogram of realizations for some interactively selected points.
    • Volumetrics processing. Spill Point calculations.

3. SIMULATIONS

The SIMULATIONS module allows you access a wide range of conditional simulation techniques for use in risk assessment.

  • Turning Bands method: univariate and multivariate simulations, allowing stationary, intrinsic and non stationary models, with kriging or cokriging conditioning, in unique or moving neighborhood. Point or block simulations.
  • Sequential Gaussian Simulations
  • External Drift Simulations, Collocated Cosimulations, LU decomposition.
  • Truncated Gaussian Simulations, Plurigaussian Simulations, Boolean Simulations, Sequential Indicator Simulations.
  • Multiple-point Simulations.
  • Direct Block Simulations. This Isatis exclusive technique, based on an explicit model, delivers robust simulations of even very large 3D block models in one go, without requiring block discretization. Classical methods usually require several runs.

4. FAULTS

The FAULTS module enables the use of 2D or 3D faults in variogram calculations and in kriging and simulation procedures.

5. ISATIS 3D VIEWER

The Isatis 3D Viewer module offers sophisticated visualization abilities allowing in-depth data exploration and control in 3D.

  • Representation of 2D/3D punctual data, wells/boreholes data, 3D models, 2D surfaces, 2D/3D polygons, 2D/3D faults, grid sections.
  • Visualization of grids, directions, rotations, ellipsoid of anisotropy, 3D neighborhoods.
  • Many features such as clipping, slicing, zooming, filtering, database inquiry, …
  • Easy export of graphics to standard image formats.
  • Direct link to Isatis database for automatic refresh.

6. ISATOIL

Isatoil is an advanced 2D modeling technique for building a consistent 3D, stacked sequence (layered geological model) using an original global multi-layer approach.

7. M-GS (Moving Geostatistics)

Moving-Geostatistics is only available in the framework of pilot projects conducted by Geovariances or its partner Estimages.

  • Estimation of local variogram and local neighborhood parameters to be used as input in kriging and SGS.

8. M2RC3 (Multivariate Recoverable Resource Consortium - 3rd year)

  • Statistics

    • Gibbs Sampler: zero-effect variable and indicator transformation into gaussian variable.
  • Modeling

    • Truncated gaussian variogram modelling: fit the underlying Gaussian random functions of zero-effect variables or indicators.
    • Histogram modeling: multivariate modeling of indicators and zero-effect variables.
  • Domaining

    • Border effect: probability of transition between a variable and the different domain indicators.
    • Contact analysis: analysis of variables according to the distance to a contact.
