... and quantify the gain in precisions of different mine control drilling grids to efficiently incorporate information effect to the estimation procedure. The results of this project (that started in May with a visit to site by Zach Casley) will be presented at the "Journées de Géostatistique" in Fontainebleau (15-16 Sept) by Jacques Deraisme.
Jacques Deraisme, just back from a well deserved holiday has resumed work for Gold Fields and the implementation of MPS simulations to help quantify the quality of the existing geological model at Damang Gold Mine in Ghana. On this project Jacques has worked in close collaboration with Laurent Wagner who is now on his way to help Julien man booth no 36 at Geosynthesis in Cape Town later this month. On completion of this project Jacques will continue to contribute to Geovariances’ positive collaboration with Gold Fields, helping one of their group geologists perform an update of the the Cerro Corona resource estimate using LMUC (Local Multivariate Uniform Conditioning). The topic has been the subject of a paper co authored by Jacques and Dr. Winfred Assibey Bonsu that will be presented by Jacques at APCOM in Wollongong late September.
On all these projects Geovariances is now fully benefiting from the input of Lucia Robles-Stefoni, who started with us in July. Whilst bringing a wealth of experience in the practical application of geostatistical resource estimation techniques, Lucia enriches Geovariances pool of spoken languages being fluent in French, English and obviously Spanish! Lucia will lead in October 2 weeks of practical training sessions in Spanish in Santiago: Geoestadistica para la Estimación de Recursos and Geoestadistica Avanzada en Isatis.
Finally the team in Australia continues to actively service the coal industry with long term clients BMA and BHP Illawarra Coal having commissioned vast Drill Hole Spacing Analysis projects to help calibrate and validate their resource classification decisions. Olivier will stop by the office on his way to New Caledonia to ensure that on these projects as well, clients benefit from our varied range of expertise.
