Geovariances, expert in the application of geostatistics to coal resource characterization
New Year, New projects:
Geovariances welcomes a new intern, Mr Clément Walter from Mines ParisTech who will spend the next six months in Australia helping Geovariances cement its position as experts in the application of geostatistics to coal resource characterization by conducting a marketing and technological research analysis into the resource characterization for coal seam gas. The project will capitalize on Geovariances’ contribution to a recent ACARP project on the characterization of gas in place for existing coal mines.
Geovariances is also to publish a paper in a special issue of the International Journal of Coal Geology on geostatistical and spatiotemporal modeling applied to coal geology, entitled "Geostatistical Drill hole Spacing for Coal Resource Classification and basin scale trends".
January has also seen our consultants involved in some exciting overseas projects, including:
- On site Isatis training of St Barbara’s personnel in Perth,
- On-going collaboration with CSA Global in UK,
- Assistance to BMA on their Saraji/Saraji East project,
- Implementation of advanced recoverable resource estimation techniques for latritic Nickel for SLN.
Besides, G2DC consortium held its 3rd steering committee early January. The consortium is progressing well and promises to deliver very interesting new tools to the 5 sponsors.
Finally a word of Mining Indaba 2012 taking place in Cape Town next week, and where Geovariances has an exhibition space for the first time.
Not to mention Geovariances next 2 public training sessions scheduled late February - early March in Perth and Brisbane where few seats are still available for the latecomers.
