March 2012, a busy month regarding Training & Mentoring activities in Oil & Gas, especially for non-conventional resources!
Geovariances Consultant Matthieu Bourges spent three weeks in Calgary, Alberta where he run for Suncor a one-day seminar entitled “Geostatistics & Geomodeling for E&P workflows”. In particular, he showed the 50 attendees from Suncor how geostatistics applies at each step of the geomodeling workflow, and what its benefits are.
This seminar was followed by:
- A 3-day training session for Suncor focused on the practice of ISATIS,
- A 5-day mentoring session with Suncor,
- A 4-day tailor-made training session for Statoil, dedicated to the application of geostatistics for reservoir characterization. Noticeably, this session covered innovative techniques such as Local Geostatistics of simulations using Multiple-Points Geostatistics with the IMPALA library embedded in ISATIS.
Matthieu finally gave a talk during a CSPG technical luncheon on March the 9th: “Geostatistical Facies Modeling: State of the Art and Recent Developments”.
Besides, Chesapeake organized an in-house ISATIS training for 9 geoscientists in Oklahoma City, given by Frédéric Rambert. Among other functionalities, attendees have been pleased to find with ISATIS a global solution answering many of their issues, allowing them to perform :
- Advanced spatial data quality control and modeling,
- Depth conversion,
- Geophysical log filtering with factorial kriging,
- Seismic cubes QC/filtering.
They were particularly enthusiastic when they saw that ISATIS can process a huge data set quickly and deliver a precise map of their field, and this, in an automatic way using the software batch procedures. They also appreciated the fact that they could tune map color scales and isolines density according to their own wishes.
