What’s new in Isatis 5.1?

The new release 5.1 of ISATIS constitutes a step towards a greater ease of use. Menus have been simplified while the Display application has completely been remastered. Besides, ISATIS 5.1 goes further in uncertainty quantification to answer an ever growing demand for traceability in resource evaluation or for reliable mapping. And ISATIS 5.1 is still enriched with new interfaces to get even better integrated in your day-to-day workflow.

- Improved interfaces for seamless data exchanges

  • The power of ISATIS geostatistics fully accessible to Datamine users. Exchange between Datamine and ISATIS databases is now easy. Datamine binary files can be read by Isatis so that composites, regular block models or block models with sub-cells can quickly be loaded.

  • Deviated wells can now be imported using the new LAS Import interface. The interface now takes the deviation survey into account so that deviated wells can be loaded into Isatis straightforward.
  • Enhanced capability of importing and exporting ISATIS data in GEMS 5.5. Gemcom’s GEMS import and export new interface offers GEMS users easy access to the full capabilities of Isatis. Of special interest to GEMS users is the near seamless movement of data into Isatis’ advanced linear and non-linear interpolation techniques. Exporting results from the Isatis package back into the unique GEMS database is facilitated with ease through this integrated GEMS Isatis interface.
  • Isatis<->RML link at its best. The direct link between both softwares strengthens the consistency and ease-of-use of the RML-ISATIS combination allowing building reservoir models consistent with the geology.

  • Isatis<->Petrel link. Many of you have requested this interface. We are thinking about it...

- New step in uncertainty quantification

  • Accurate control of the simulations results with the Macro Variable Statistics. This new application enables the interactive exploration of simulation outcomes by computing standard statistics locally on given points or areas and allows to compare the realizations to the kriged or data values.

  • Comparison of experimental distributions of two distinct populations is now available. The Q-Q plot tool in the EDA menu now allows easy comparison between a simulations distribution and the corresponding initial data distribution. This facility has also been enriched with P-P plots.

- Significant gain in productivity

  • Batch procedure even more efficient. Because productivity is vital, ISATIS batch procedure allows jobs automation and quick integration of new data. All the tasks can be saved in Audit files allowing full traceability of the computations. Improvements have been made in journal files to facilitate the use of global parameters. Management of graphics is now possible in batch.
  • New algorithm in Variogram Fitting to render this unique application even more efficient. New fitting parameters as well as new graphic capabilities are available.

- New insights into the displays

  • Graphics have never been so easy to combine. The Display menu has completely been redesigned to offer quicker and smarter combination of graphical objects. Management of the different graphic pages is now available as well as their automatic refresh as soon as the ISATIS database is modified.

ISATIS also offers specific Color Scales for facies variables.

- And even more because your needs are our concern

  • More reliability with average variograms. You can now compute two variograms on two analogous populations and derive their average variogram. More robust, this average variogram is used for further estimations.
  • More flexibility in the interpolations. The Interpolate menu has been enriched with advanced search parameters and the storage of "number of neighbors" and "average distance to samples" in Kriging.
  • Domaining of mining deposits now easy. Isatis offers a new type of variable, the Macro Selection, enabling multipled criteria selections.
  • The Conventional Profit/Cutoff curve has arrived in the Grade Tonnage Curves tool. More curves can also be displayed in the same graph - including Histogram models stored in Anamorphosis files.
  • Better integration of the Isatis documentation. On-line Help and Reference Guide have been merged to allow a better interaction between them. Theory and practice are now linked through pdf files.
