What’s new in Isatis 8.0?

You are away from your office but you still need to use ISATIS? Borrow your license from the server and take ISATIS v8.0 on your laptop.
The use of ISATIS is even more facilitated by a unique access to the whole documentation: Case Studies, Beginner’s Guide, Technical References, On-line Help end up together in your favorite browser.
It has never been so easy to include ISATIS in your luggage!

- License borrowing is now available

Because your project cannot wait for your return when you need to travel far from your office, ISATIS 8.0 enables you to borrow an ISATIS license from a pool of network licenses.

Isatis license borrowing

License borrowing is only permitted with a dongle network floating license. You check out any module of ISATIS (Modeling, Faults, Simulations, 3D Viewer) or all of them for a limited time period and return the borrowed license back to the pool of available licenses when you’re back to the office.

The borrowed license is created and stored on a spare dongle. Simply plug this dongle to the PC you are travelling with and you will have access to the ISATIS features you have selected when asking for the borrowing.

- Access the whole contents of ISATIS Help in one click

Isatis on-line technical documentation

The ISATIS on-line help now includes the Beginner’s Guide, the Case Studies, the Technical References and the previous On-line Help.

The whole documentation is provided in html files which are linked together. Besides the table of contents, an index and an outstanding search engine allow you to access the information you need whatever your level in ISATIS or Geostatistics. You may also build you own index grouping together your favorite pages.

- Manage wireframe objects in Isatis Wireframes in Isatis 3D Viewer

Select, remove, rename, activate, deactivate, set a color for your wireframes.

ISATIS 7.0 allowed you to import wireframes to improve your 3D visualizations.

ISATIS 8.0 is going one step forward and offers the Wireframe Editor. You are now able to perform several management operations on wireframes and individual constitutive objects.

Next step will offer you the possibility to use these wireframes for masking samples or domaining.

- ISATIS 8.0 still proves to be an integrated all-in one software package.

Multiplying software packages is costly in time and money. This is why one of our main concerns is to provide you with even more functionalities. ISATIS 8.0 offers, among others, the following new features:

  • Cloud Transform Simulation
used to simulate a variable from another variable using the scatter diagram between them. The principle is to split the scatter diagram in several classes and a cumulative distribution function is built for each class. The simulated value is then drawn from the probability distribution of the data pairs included in the same class. Unlike one-to-one functions linking two variables (i.e. linear regression), this method preserves the uncertainty in the relationship between the variables.

    Cloud Transform Simulation
  • Copy Statistics Polygon to Grid
particularly useful for domaining issues. It will enable you to copy geology or domain codes from a Polygons File to a Grid File and to get the proportions of each geology or domain over each block.
  • Variable Transformation
to compute new variables. You may now normalize a variable, sort the samples according to their values, transform a variable in a new one having an uniform distribution, truncate a variable between two bounds.
  • Unit Unfolding/Folding
which replace the previous Grid Unfolding/Folding applications. You are now able to flatten complex geological structures attached to different geological units in order to work in the original stratigraphic system to get better spatial correlation.
The application starts from the structural information (structural 3D grid, top and bottom surfaces of units) and possibly lines data to build the original stratigraphic systems.

- We’re still improving ISATIS display functionalities

Log display
  • ISATIS 3D Viewer includes many new features, among them the visualization of any 2D datasets, the display of literal values attached to the samples (name of a drill hole, values of an attribute) in labels, the display of a legend for color scales, 2D polygons and 2D faults can now be given a thickness, two clipping modes are now available: half-space clipping and slice-clipping.
  • The line display has been enriched with the representation of logs. This allows you to select and draw side by side the logs you wish to analyze and compare.

- New functionalities specific to the Oil and Gas Industry

  • Exponential Cosine variogram model has been added to the list of authorized models.
It is particularly appropriate for modeling seismic signal.

- New functionalities specific to the Mining Industry

  • Secondary Histogram is taken into account in Grade/Tonnage curves.
  • The developments of the Multivariate Recoverable Resources Consortium (M2RC) are now officially part of ISATIS 8.0.
    • Some of them offering univariate and multivariate features are available to all ISATIS users as soon as they are used in the univariate case:
      • Improvement of the Gaussian Anamorphosis Modeling,
      • Improvement of the Uniform Conditioning,
      • New Block Discretization Gaussian Modeling panel,
      • New Variogram Regularization panel,
      • New Support Correction panel which now offers a direct way of computing the Information Effect without having to run a previous kriging to get the necessary parameters (Kriged Block Variance and Kriged Block-Real Block Covariance).
    • The other ones are only available to the consortium partners:
      • New Gaussian Support Correction panel which offers another way of performing block support correction. It is meant to transform a variogram model established on gaussian transforms regularized on the block support into a block gaussian variogram model related to a normal block gaussian variable.
      • New Direct Block Simulations panel used to simulate block values in the framework of the Discrete Gaussian Model. This new application represents an outstanding improvement in simulation computations as it allows to get the results in record time.
