News from M2RC, Multivariate Recoverable Resource Consortium - June 2007
As the other members, they benefit from now on from two new multivariate applications: Uniform Conditioning and Direct Block Simulations.
Non linear Geostatistics has for a long time been restricted to single variables. As soon as multivariate aspects (multi-elements deposits, pollutants) are important to account for, the only solution is, in practice, to apply co-simulations. But it results in a significant, sometimes discouraging, increasing in computing time for achieving a reasonable number of block simulations.
Even if this point has been already improved in the version 7 of Isatis by the use of multithreading, a new algorithm is required to speed up again the simulations.
During this first year, we have revisited the non-linear techniques in the multivariate framework with the help of Dr. Jacques Rivoirard (Centre de Géostatistique de Fontainebleau) and a first implementation of bivariate Uniform Conditioning has been realized and tested on real data.
Besides, specific case-studies are being carried-on to validate the methodologies using the data each partner has provided. Each partner will be delivered its own case study once fully completed.
Thanks to our sponsors, M2RC is a real opportunity for GEOVARIANCES to improve Isatis according to customer needs.
