OBJECTIVE
To present the added value of geostatistics for processing seismic data: data QC and filtering, seismic surveys merging, time lapse analysis of 4D seismic.
The course highlights:
- the quality control of seismic data
- the interpretation of variograms in relation with the key features of the reservoir
- and the importance of techniques like factorial kriging for eliminating artefacts from the seismic data and more generally for data QC.
KEY FEATURES
A minimum of theory and a maximum of practice for bringing geostatistics within geophysicists reach.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Geophysicists of course but also more generally geoscientists aware of the necessity to conduct complementary approaches during the data analysis. Basic knowledge of geostatistics (variograms and kriging) is recommended.
COURSE CONTENT
- Reminders on variograms and multivariate geostatistics.
- Quality Control of seismic data.
- Variographic analysis of seismic velocity data.
- Kriging with filtering variogram components.
- Factorial Cokriging
- Application on merging different seismic surveys and processing of 3D velocity cube.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The practical exercises are achieved using the Isatis software, including importing.
