AquaConSoil 2019

May 20-24, 2019
Antwerp, Belgium - The Flanders Meeting & Convention Center, Koningin Astridplein 20

Our consultant Claire Faucheux, expert in geostatistics applied to contamination characterization, will present two papers. Attend her talks on Thursday 23 May and find out more about geostatistics added-value for improved decision-making process.

2:00-3:30 pm – Room gorilla 3 – Session 1a1 “Geostatistics and modelling”

INTEGRATED IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL DATABASE PLATFORM EQuIS AND THE GEOSTATISTICAL SOFTWARE KARTOTRAK TO PERFORM POLLUTION CHARACTERIZATION AND TO DESIGN THE REMEDIATION OF INDUSTRIAL SITES

Authors : Ophélie Lemarchand et Claire Faucheux (Geovariances), Yoelma Rodriguez, Alice Makou and Thomas Perrier (Ramboll)

Discover why and how the combined use of a data management tool like EQuIS and a geostatistical visualization system like Kartotrak guarantees the reliability and quality of data together with an optimization and an increased reliability of characterization and remediation costs. And how this helps decision-makers to size the best remedial solutions for industrial sites.

GEOCHEMICAL BACKGROUND OVER THE PARISIAN BASIN: FROM THE SETTING UP TO THE PRACTICAL USE FOR CIRCULAR REUSE OF EXCAVATED SOILS

Authors : Claire Faucheux (Geovariances), Coline Eychène (Soltracing), Marie-Charlotte Favre (BG Ingénieurs conseils) and Samuel Coussy (BRGM)

With Europe setting recycling targets for construction waste at 70% by 2020, and a significant demand in raw materials, the construction sector represents a major stake for the circular economy. Reuse of excavated soil is one of the components likely to be developed in the Île-de-France and Normandie regions (France). It is then important to have a good knowledge of soil composition for potential offsite reuse in different kinds of areas (residential, industrial…). This is the aim of Geobapa, a project conducted by Geovariances and its partners SOLTRACING, BG Ingénieurs Conseils, the BRGM and Althea Ingénierie, to build a geochemical background baseline for the regions of Île de France and Normandie.

With this paper, discover the methodological choices made to set up the geochemical background and how results can be transferred for practical use.
