ICRER 2022 – 5th International Conference on Radioecology & Environmental Radioactivity

September 4-9, 2022
Oslo, Norway - Holbergsgate 30

Geovariances supports the Norwegian Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) in their use of Kartotrak. Our consultant Yvon Desnoyers is the co-author of two papers IFE will present at the ICRER conference.

Poster presentation: Geostatistical mapping of a contaminated riverbank in Norway

Tomas K. Eriksen (1) and Yvon Desnoyers (2)
(1) Institute for Energy Technology, (2) Geovariances

Discover how in-depth exploratory data analysis and geostatistics could help characterize finely and precisely low-level radioactive contamination in river sediments for a site close to a city and recreational areas and for which one did not know if removing the contamination is advantageous or not. The presentation focuses on the site’s radiological mapping and demonstrates the capabilities and usefulness of geostatistical tools. The geostatistical analysis and mapping were achieved with Kartotrak.

Paper presentation: Geostatistical mapping of two nuclear sites in Norway

Marie Bourgeaux-Goget (1) and Yvon Desnoyers (2)
(1) Institute for Energy Technology, (2) Geovariances

Session 2 b
Tuesday 6 September – 12:30 – 12:45 pm
Radiology in decommissioning, waste management and disposal & management of nuclear and other legacies

The author will present two mapping techniques used to map the current contamination levels in the ground of two previous research nuclear reactor facilities, which today are closed down. Focus is made on the sampling strategy and results are presented using Kartotrak.
