APPLICATION OF PLURI-GAUSSIAN SIMULATIONS AND CONDITIONAL SIMULATION FOR GEOLOGICAL MODELLING AND ESTIMATION OF A NICKEL DEPOSIT IN NEW CALEDONIA
In a nickel deposit where the different geological lithologies (laterite, fine saprolite, coarse saprolite, and bedrock) are not explicitly described but represented by a proportion of occurrence within one meter (without giving the exact location of the lithology inside the meter), geological modeling is difficult to achieve, all the most that the proportion of each rock type is zero in more than 40% of the samples. A solution has been to use the plurigaussian simulations instead of a more standard simulation algorithm that requires modeling a gaussian anamorphosis function (that would not be bijective here). The advantage is that the plurigaussian simulations also enable to assess the risk associated with the geological model.
