Our consultants have a great experience in geostatistics applied to different fields and are fully committed to supporting your company. They regularly contribute to international industry and academic conferences and journals and have been responsible for implementation of many significant technical advances over the past decades.
David joined the team in February 2009 as a specialist Mathematical Analyst. David obtained a BSc with Honours at the University of Queensland, achieving First Class Honours and being awarded a University Medal. On completion of this degree he undertook a Master of Philosophy degree in Physics.
Hélène Binet is a geostatistician with a background in geophysics, specializing in spatial data analysis, filtering and time-to-depth conversion. She has more than a decade of international experience including working in Brasil and Norway in the Oil&Gas industry. Hélène also has experience in geostatistics applied to chemical and radiological soil contamination.
As a geostatistician and engineering consultant, she applies her experience to carrying out exploratory data analysis, sampling optimization, geostatistician estimations and simulations, building cartography together with quantifying uncertainties and delineating contaminated surfaces and volumes. All these techniques are used to answer in the best way the client-centered needs.
Moreover, her indepth-knowledge has allowed her to become a successful product manager and also be an integral part of our training team.
Jean-Marc Chautru is a Senior Geoscientist with 30 years of experience in Geological Engineering. His main skills are in 2D and 3D geological mapping, flow modeling in porous media, facies simulations and uncertainty quantification.
He has joined Geovariances in 2013 as Consulting and Training Manager and is currently Expert Geostatistician and Senior Geoscientist.
After a Master degree in geological engineering, and a PhD in Geostatistics, he worked in Beicip-Franlab, the consulting arm of IFP group, for 24 years. He was first Geologist, specialized in rock-typing and geological modelling. He became Reservoir Engineer in 2004 and worked on several flow simulation projects (history match and forecasts). As Principal Advisor for Modelling, he was in charge of studies review and assistance to junior engineers. He was often involved in training sessions for national companies’ young specialists. As Project Director, he has led several integrated studies. Jean-Marc worked on many giant fields, like Ghawar (Saudi Arabia), Greater Burgan (Kuwait), Cantarell (Mexico), Upper Zakum (Abu Dhabi) and Hassi Messaoud (Algeria).
Thanks to his double experience in geology and reservoir engineering, he his mastering all the aspects of subsurface studies, from rock properties modeling to fluid flow simulations, even in the most complex cases. Jean-Marc is the technical leader of studies and training sessions conducted by Geovariances in Oil & Gas sector, in Geological modeling for hydrogeology and for nuclear waste storage.
Yvon DESNOYERS, PhD
Senior Geostatistician, Expert in Radiological Characterization
Yvon Desnoyers has now 10 years’ experience in consulting, mentoring and training as a geostatistician expert at Geovariances. His main proficiency fields are sampling optimization and radiological characterization of nuclear facilities and contaminated sites to drive decommissioning & dismantling and remediation projects. Yvon is actively involved in numerous working groups and R&D projects as well (France, Europe and international organizations).

Claire Faucheux joined Geovariances in 2010 as an engineering consultant applying geostatistics to environmental fields. After graduating with a diploma of Ingénieur Agronome (equivalent to Msc.) from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Agronomie de Rennes, she gained experience in sampling for water quality assessment at IRSTEA as well as in geostatistics for soil pollution and air quality at MinesParisTech.
Her geostatistical and statistical expertise allows her to carry out exploratory data analysis, sampling optimization, geostatistician estimations and simulations, build cartography together with uncertainties quantification and delineate contaminated surfaces and volumes. Claire mainly applies these techniques to soil contamination and air quality, while responding to client-centered needs. Her scientific software skills include Isatis, Kartotrak and R.
As part of our experienced training team, Claire is able to offer her expertise in English as well as French.
Marie-Cécile joined Geovariances as a Senior Mine Consultant in 2018 after graduating from Mines ParisTech with a post master’s degree in Geostatistics. She has 10 years of experience in the mining industry. She covered all the aspects of exploration and production geology (open pit and underground), geological and geostatistical modelling, resource estimation, grade control database management (AcQuire, DataSched etc) and quality control implementation. Her area of expertise includes various commodities such as Gold (massive sulphides, “greenstone” shearzone and skarns), Uranium and Nickel (lateritic); in various countries such as Kazakhstan, Namibia, New Caledonia, Philippines, Ivory Coast, Mali and Burkina Faso. Marie-Cécile has advanced knowledge in Mineral Resource Estimation and can act as a competent person in accordance with the requirements of the various regulatory requirements or codes (JORC, Ni43-101, PERC).
Following his postdoctoral project about the geostatistical characterization of contaminated soil, Pedram Masoudi joined Geovariances in 2019, with more than 5 years of experience in the earth-sciences: radioprotection, mineral, and petroleum exploration. He is interested in developing and testing novel methods and algorithms to integrate and interpret geophysical and geological data.
At Geovariances, Pedram is more specifically in charge of consulting projects and training courses for the Nuclear Decommissioning Industry.
Silvia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais with an international experience at the Queensland University of Technology. She joined Geovariances in 2017 and is involved in Consulting and Training services to the Mining Industry in Latin America and the Caribbean area. Currently, Silvia is a Geostatistics Master’s candidate at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul.
