Kartotrak, software solution for contaminated site and soil characterization

Abstract – Kartotrak is Geovariances’ software solution for contaminated site characterization. It can be used whatever the nature of the contamination, chemical or radiological, at each phase of a remediation or decommissioning project, during operation, investigation, dismantling, or after remediation work to check the site compliance with cleanup regulations. It offers a unique choice of statistical and geostatistical tools for data analysis, mapping, the design and optimization of sampling campaigns, the calculation of contaminated soil volumes and contaminant masses, and risk analysis.
Because of the need to be confident with data quality in order to produce reliable results, high-value exploratory data analysis tools are provided for an in-depth quality control. Its integrated Geographical Information System and 3D Viewer help improving the contamination understanding and identify key uncertain areas.
Kartotrak provides efficient tools for sampling optimization and risk assessment, based on its integrated geostatistical workflow. By modelling the spatial variability, 2D and 3D maps can be interpolated, in parallel with uncertainty quantification. Contaminated surfaces / volumes and total radiological inventory consequently results from the probability of exceeding waste thresholds.
