Our expert is to talk at the next IAEA technical meeting – 7-10 Oct 2019

October 4, 2019

Our expert in geostatistics applied to radiological characterization, Yvon Desnoyers, will take part in the Technical Meeting on Achieving the Site End State: Characterization Strategies and Instrumentation for Land Contamination, from 7 to 11 October 2019, Dounreay, United Kingdom

His presentation is about "The use of statistics in environmental management"

Participants will learn more about the following:
– Articulation between data processing, sampling strategy and characterisation objectives
– Geostatistics and statistics complementarity (as they are used at different phases: initial versus final)
– Relevance of data context to correctly interprete the measurements
– Distinction between local estimates and global estimates
– Cost-benefit approach for waste classification (integrating uncertainties)
– Sampling optimisation (coupling in situ / in lab)

He will make geostatistics very accessible to everyone.
