Upcoming workshops by Geovariances and the IAEA about contamination characterization with geostatistics

September 8, 2022

As part of the training provided by the IAEA, Yvon Desnoyers, our expert in geostatistics applied to radiological characterization, is to conduct training sessions during two workshops in Pecs and Vienna in September and October. He will teach attendees how to use geostatistics for data analysis, sampling optimization, contamination mapping, and risk analysis.

During these two events, attendees will have the chance to use Kartotrak, Geovariances’ software solution for contaminated site characterization, to process the data they would have collected in the previous days. They will go through the entire workflow to produce kriged contamination maps and conduct uncertainty analyses.

September 12-23, 2022

Training course – Venue: Pecs, Hungary

In-situ characterization of Contaminated Sites with Practical Field Applications

The course is organized under the technical cooperation project “Improving Environmental Monitoring and Assessment for Radiation Protection in the Region.”

Participants will be trained on the most frequently applied in-situ radioanalytical methods and techniques used for the radiological characterization and remediation of radioactively contaminated land and objects, including data collection, visualization, and interpretation.

October 10-14, 2022

Workshop – Venue: IAEA offices in Vienna

Characterization and Monitoring to Support the Management of Radioactively Contaminated Land

The event aims to increase attendees’ technical understanding and knowledge of relevant techniques and technologies for the characterization and monitoring of contaminated land and to promote good practices in this area.
